Salvaged from old barns and structures, our reclaimed wood flooring does not rely on any newly cut timbers. This creates less of an impact on the environment and reduces deforestation. Apart from these benefits to the environment, reclaimed wood also passes along benefits to you. With reclaimed wood, you have access to antique wood species that are difficult to source today. These rediscovered old-growth timbers are given a new life as beautiful reclaimed flooring in your home — all without having to cut down a single tree.
At Southern Vintage, we source the majority of our lumber from local family farms in beautiful Fisherville, Kentucky—including our own family farm. We also harvest wood from dilapidated barns and industrial structures throughout Indiana, Tennessee, and Ohio, preventing usable lumber from ending up in the landfill. By sourcing local, we create incentives for local landowners to keep their land for generations to come, as well as reduce environmental impacts from cross-country transportation.
Reclaimed wood flooring is not only beautiful — it’s durable enough to last in your home for decades to come. Made of old-growth timbers, reclaimed wood flooring ranks up to 40 points harder on the Janka hardness scale. Surpassing new-growth timber in both density and durability, reclaimed wood flooring has a much longer life span than new materials made today. When you invest in reclaimed wood flooring, you are investing in quality that will last the lifetime of your home.
